Legal Agreement and Binding Nature
These Terms and Conditions constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Shield Academy. By accessing our website, enrolling in courses, or using our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms.
This agreement establishes the legal framework for our professional relationship and defines mutual obligations, rights, and responsibilities. If you do not agree to these terms, please discontinue use of our services immediately.
User Obligations and Conduct Requirements
1. Legal Responsibilities
Users must comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws while using Shield Academy services. This includes but is not limited to data protection laws, cybersecurity regulations, and educational compliance requirements.
Any cybersecurity techniques learned through our programs must be used solely for legitimate, ethical purposes such as authorized security testing, defensive measures, and professional security research.
2. Prohibited Activities and Behaviors
Strictly Prohibited: Using learned skills for unauthorized access to systems, engaging in any form of cybercrime or malicious hacking, distributing malware or participating in illegal activities, sharing course materials without permission.
Behavioral Standards: Harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior toward staff or fellow students will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal from programs.
3. Content Guidelines and Restrictions
All content shared during courses must be appropriate for professional educational environments. Users may not post, share, or discuss illegal activities, distribute copyrighted materials without authorization, or engage in any content that promotes harmful or illegal cybersecurity practices.
4. Age Restrictions and Requirements
Students must be at least 18 years of age to enroll independently. Participants under 18 require parental or guardian consent and supervision. All students must demonstrate adequate technical background and professional maturity suitable for cybersecurity education.
Liability Limitations and Warranties
1. Disclaimer of Warranties
Shield Academy provides educational services "as is" without warranty of any kind. While we strive for high-quality education, we make no guarantees regarding specific career outcomes, certification success rates, or employment opportunities.
Course content is updated regularly to reflect current industry practices, but we cannot warrant that all information will remain current in the rapidly evolving cybersecurity field.
2. Limitation of Liability
Shield Academy's liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific course or service in question. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of our services.
This includes but is not limited to lost profits, data loss, career setbacks, or damages resulting from misuse of cybersecurity knowledge gained through our programs.
3. Consequential Damages Exclusion
Under no circumstances shall Shield Academy be liable for any special, incidental, indirect, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of use, data, revenue, or profits, regardless of whether such damages are foreseeable and whether Shield Academy has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
4. Force Majeure Provisions
Shield Academy is not liable for delays or failures in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, government actions, pandemics, technical failures, or other force majeure events. Alternative arrangements will be made when possible.
Legal Information and Dispute Resolution
1. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Finland. Any disputes arising from this agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Helsinki, Finland, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection laws.
2. Dispute Resolution Procedures
Before initiating formal legal proceedings, parties agree to attempt resolution through good faith negotiations. Disputes should first be reported through our contact channels with detailed descriptions of the issue.
If direct negotiation fails, mediation through a mutually agreed mediator will be attempted before pursuing litigation. EU residents may also utilize the European Online Dispute Resolution platform for consumer disputes.
3. Severability Clause
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. Invalid provisions shall be replaced with valid provisions that most closely approximate the intent of the original clause.
4. Terms Modification Policy
Shield Academy reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions with reasonable notice to users. Significant changes will be communicated via email or website announcement. Continued use of services after modification constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
Additional Legal Provisions
Entire Agreement
These Terms and Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy and any specific course agreements, constitute the entire agreement between you and Shield Academy.
Assignment Rights
You may not assign or transfer your rights under this agreement without prior written consent. Shield Academy may assign its rights and obligations to successor entities.
Waiver of Rights
Failure to enforce any provision of these terms does not constitute a waiver of future enforcement. All waivers must be in writing and signed by authorized representatives.
Effective Date
These Terms and Conditions are effective as of September 15, 2025, and supersede all previous agreements and understandings.
